Huaraz

I took the night bus from Trujillo into the Cordillera Blanca and I woke up just as it was getting light. I could faintly see the silhouette of razor-edged peaks and meandering streams as they reflected the rapidly brightening sky. I lack the technology to capture anything in that light, but pretty soon I got this picture:

Copper colored grasslands with glaciated peaks in the background, and shallow streams flowing through flat floodplains. This landscape is so new to me, and stunningly beautiful. I went on several hikes while in the area, and they are awesome enough to warrant their own posts, so there are many other pictures to come.
